A Vineland man is dead after he was stabbed in the chest Monday, police say.
Vineland Police were responding to a call at the Garden Apartments around 2:30 for a person who was reported to have been assaulted and suffered a serious cut wound to his hand. The officers were then waived over to the back of a residence in the 700 block of Humbert St. by several neighbors.
Police then located a man laying on the ground In the backyard of the residence with a serious stab wound to his chest. Vineland Police, Vineland EMS, and several bystanders attempted to assist the man, identified as 31-year-old Vineland resident Johnnie R Malloy, who would ultimately succumb to his injuries.
Malloy was pronounced dead at Inspira Hospital. A suspect was identified shortly after and an arrest has been made in regard to this investigation.
Police say that more information will be released Tuesday.
