EGG HARBOR TWP. -- The Community Food Bank of New Jersey had its largest single day food collection of the year Saturday.
Officials with the food bank say South Jersey resident left food out by their mailboxes to be picked up by their letter-carriers. Then the Air National Guard transported the food to the food bank.
Last year on the single day event, over 98,000 pounds of food were collected and they expect to collect around the same amount this year after the volunteers sort through it all.
Officials say the food will be distributed to more than 250 agencies served by the South branch of the food bank in Atlantic, cape May and Cumberland counties.
