ATLANTIC CITY -- A new piece of police technology is live and police say it's already helping them to track gun use.
Shotspotter is a system of microphones throughout Atlantic City that are specifically designed to sense gunfire.
Just before police began calibrating the system Friday night, Shotspotter notified police dispatch of gunfire near the 1600 block of Caspian Avenue.
Arriving on scene, police discovered two spent shell casings and one live.
While no witnesses or victims were found, police say the system helped them to track gunfire that wouldn't normally be reported to them.
