Ocean City water tower removal begins

Posted: Updated:
OCEAN CITY -

New Jersey American Water began taking down a part of Ocean City's skyline for the last 90 years.

New Jersey American Water began removing the 11th street water tank Thursday.

Officials say the 460,000 gallon tank was built in 1925 and has reached the end of its useful life.

There will be no disruption to water service as a result of the demolition.

For the safety of local residents and workers, temporary road closures will be required in front of the tank during the demolition process, which is expected to be completed Friday.
