The city has announced that it has received a grant from
the NJDOT to make improvements along a city street.
The $400,000 grant will go towards making
streets cape improvements along the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue. Most of the plans are aimed at making the block safer for
pedestrians and bicyclists, such as adding lights and clearly marked cross
walks, but Mayor Lorenzo Langford says the money will be used to
help make the block more beautiful.
"Better trees, decorative pavers,
landscaping, decorative. awnings, all kinds of things to make it look more
pleasing," said Langford.
For now the improvements will only be made along the 1700
block, but Langford says the city hopes to continue making the changes along
more sections of Atlantic Avenue,
east of The Walk.
