The prosecutor's office says that the man killed by Pleasantville Police back on April 22nd was holding a knife and did not stop when sprayed with pepper spray. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is running the investigation and released information Tuesday to address public concern over the shooting.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Alexis Perez called police to say he had a weapon and was about to commit an act of violence.
Police responded and Perez got into a confrontation with about 10 officers while armed with a knife.
Officers used verbal commands and OC spray to try and stop Perez.
At that time authorities say Perez advanced at one of the officers, and four of the officers shot at Perez, fatally wounding him.
The Atlantic County's Prosecutor's Office is continuing this investigation.
