LONGPORT -

The United States Coast Guard is officially investigating what caused the sea-tow boat, "The Cape Hatteras" to go down in the Great Egg Harbor inlet last week.

The search for the missing captain, David McAuliffe continues as the boat is searched for the reasons behind what caused the boat to sink with the experienced captain on board.

McAuliffe's wife, Lynsey says that the propellers on the boat were shredded and bent which would have left McAuliffe with no way to steer the vessel.

The family continues to wait and pray for any word on the whereabouts of McAuliffe.

"I need all the boaters, if they see anything, no matter how small, no matter how insignificant, to report it. It could and would mean the world to our family," said Lynsey McAuliffe.

Lynsey says she is very thankful for the prayers and support that the family has received from friends and strangers.

She warns for boaters to be extra careful in the area where her husband's boat went down.
