CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE -

A family of 6 has been displaced after a fire burned through their home Saturday.

The fire took place on the unit block of Fishing Creek Road just after 6 p.m.  According to Cape May Court House Fire Chief Paul Hand, a young girl who lives in the home had just gotten out of the shower to find the house on fire.  She was able to escape unharmed with the families 2 dogs before calling 911.

Firefighters from six different fire companies responded to fight the fire that was fully involved when they arrived.  To make things worse there was no fire hydrant in the immediate area prompting the use of several tankers.

The house is completely destroyed.

Fortunately there were no injuries in the blaze, the cause of which is unknown pending the outcome of the investigation.
