(Madison, NJ) – Richard Stockton (14-6) began a stretch of three straight doubleheaders on the road with a trip to FDU-Florham (8-8) for a non-league twinbill. The Ospreys were edged 3-1 in the opener but they halted a five-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory in the nightcap. Nicole Scanlon (Colonia/Colonia) paced the Stockton offense with three hits on the day.

Scanlon went 2-3 with an RBI while Nichole Terreri (Deptford/Deptford) was 1-3 with a triple in the first game. Stockton outhit FDU-Florham 5-4 but could not prevail in the pitchers' duel. Stockton took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Jessica Goncalves (Union/Union) reached on an error and later scored on Scanlon's RBI single, however the Ospreys missed an opportunity for more as they had a runner thrown out at the plate and left the bases loaded.

FDU-Florham took the lead with three runs on two hits, two walks and an error in the bottom of the fifth. Devils' first baseman Wynne McCann provided the key blow with a two-run homer down the left field line. A single by Heather Corica (Iselin/JFK) produced Stockton's only baserunner in the last two innings as the Ospreys fell 3-1.

In the nightcap, Rachel Forte (Vineland/Vineland) went 2-3 with a double while Goncalves was 2-4 with two runs and a stolen base as Stockton broke out of their slump with 10 hits in the 7-2 win. The seven runs were more than the Ospreys scored in their previous five games combined. After pitching 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen in the first game, Brittany Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) earned the win with a five-hitter and three strikeouts in a complete game.

Freshman Taylor Hopf (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) generated Stockton's first run with an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the top of the second. The Ospreys added two runs in the third inning as Scanlon stroked an RBI single to plate Goncalves and Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) later scored an unearned run for a 3-0 lead.

Stockton broke the game open with three runs in the fifth frame for a 6-0 advantage. Goncalves led off with a single and eventually scored on a bases-loaded walk. Nicole Tomo (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove), who had reached on a bunt single, came home during a double play before Grace Long (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) capped the spurt with an RBI single. FDU-Florham got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fifth before Hopf singled and scored an unearned run in the sixth inning for the 7-2 final.

Stockton will travel to Rutgers-Newark for an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday at 1 pm.
