Police are asking for the publics help after vandals and thieves continue to hit the Laurel Memorial Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township.
Thieves are stealing, vases, baskets and other personal items from storage areas and grave sites.
"Its very upsetting to the families. A lot of the families don't have money nowadays and they are not cheap. They cost $200, $300 a vase," Cemetery administrator Dominick Cangiarelle said.
The thieves aren't just stopping at the grave sites either, they also hit a public mausoleum with 400 bodies inside.
Cemetery administrator Dominick Congiarelle says the thieves came in and ripped out metal grates that used to cover vents.
"Everything you see there, was wide open. You could see right into the bottom of the basement," Candiarelle said as he looked on at the mausoleum.
Candiarelle says these thieves weren't looking to break into the mausoleum, they only wanted the metal.
Were told the grates that were stolen from here will probably only fetch about $50 at a scrap yard, far less then what the cemetery spent fixing on all 16 of these vents.
While the grates were ripped off and the vandals had access to the inside of the mausoleum, officials say the thieves never disrespected the crypts inside.
Police say these incidents began happening in mid-February and they want your help to end them.
If you have any other information about these incidents you are asked to call police.
