WILDWOOD -

A room full of hopeful applicants listened to job descriptions and shared a little about themselves this morning in Wildwood as Morey's Piers began interviews for admissions and life guards at their water parks.

"We began our hiring in February and we're hiring pretty much every weekend from now until mid April and then we'll take a little bit of a break and start again in may once students are home from college," said Director of water park operations and human resources Denise Beckson.

High School and College students will make up a large part of the 1,500 hired by Morey's Piers this summer, with 300 comprising the staff at Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis water parks.

Morey's uses group interviews in order to acclimate potential employees to a group setting and to promote to concept of teamwork.

"What we're looking for is that people have a positive attitude," said Beckson.

"That they're friendly, that they will represent us well to our guests. They can operate on a team and that they're professional and mature."

For the applicants hailing from all over the state and into Pennsylvania, the summer employment provides them with the chance to begin saving up for college while providing many with their first job experience.

"It's a good opportunity to get a little money for college and its something to do in the summer," said Mike Tarasiewicz of Levittown, Pennsylvania.

"Its an experience you can have," said Sarah Ghaffoor of Hamilton, New Jersey.

"My senior year is all about experience with my school and this whole experience will add up to my senior year."

And while the whole process can be a little intimidating . . .

"A little bit, got a little bit of the jitters but I'll work through it," said Tarasiewicz.

The staff is able to recognize the excitement these potential employees have.

"They're looking forward to having a job at the jersey shore in the summer, in the sun and meeting new friends," said Beckson.

"So we're excited to have such an enthusiastic group of people."
