Candy, chocolate, and rabbits. Mix these three ingredients together and what do you get? Easter.
Much like other holidays such as Christmas and Valentines Day, Easter has evolved into something different than what it was when most of us were children.
As stores in South Jersey begin to heat up the sales on candy, chocolates, and baskets this holiday season, it becomes a tasty treat allowing us to take our minds off of the cooler weather.
"The past week, business has just exploded. We've been doing so well, people have just been buying so much different kinds of candy. For their Easter baskets and now that school's out for the week. We're expecting nothing but great sales and great times," said Stefan Kelsall, a supervisor at It's Sugar in Atlantic City.
And Easter is not only about the candy. It's also about new clothes, dinner, and some out the box celebrating. One woman said she is going to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. Others worried about making dinner plans.
"Yeah, just a lot of planning lately. Everything has just been nerve racking and busy. Just planning dinner and everything. It's going to be pretty good though, I think," said Josh Wolf of Atlantic City.
Whether it's buying chocolate, candy, or even dresses, one thing still remains the same with Easter, and that is, its about the kids. Many talked about the candy they would be getting, time off from school, and seeing the Easter bunny. Others talked about new Easter clothes for church.
As we prepare our stomachs for the Easter ham, hard boiled eggs and peeps, one thing is for certain these final days before Sunday, schedule your cleaning at your dentist soon, with all this candy flying off the shelves, they might be a little busy next week.
