Ocean City's South End to receive Sand

OCEAN CITY -

The hard hit beaches along Ocean City's southern end soon will be getting some much needed sand to replace what hurricane sandy swept out to sea.

The city council approved a $1.1 million contract last night to truck in 60,000 cubic yards of sand to the beaches between 49th and 59th streets.

Emergency management coordinator Frank Donato for the city says
"Our goal is to try and get as much trucked in sand out there as we can between now and the summer season to add some dry beach or towel space as we consider it for the summer season.:

Donato also says that that the current army corps of engineers dredging project only extends to 34th street and they are hoping for another dredging project for the south end in the future.
