Police have identified the victim of what they
believe may be a hit and run accident.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor says that investigators now
believe the victim may have been run over by a bus. The accident happened around 6:30 Wednesday night in the area of McCormick Place and Orange Street.
Authorities say 54 year-old Bernadette Montgomery got off of
a New Jersey Transit bus and shortly after her body was found in the street.
Surveillance footage in the area shows NJ Transit buses and
several other vehicles driving by near the time of the accident.
"We've narrowed down pretty much 90 percent of vehicle traffic
that went through at the time. We have spoken to most of those drivers and we
have examined most of the vehicles that went through," said Captain Michael Gaimari of Bridgeton Police.
Montgomery was from New Castle, Delaware. Police continue to investigate this accident.
