MARGATE -
An alleged drunk driver's joyride ended when he crashed his car onto the beach Monday afternoon.
Margate police were called to the beach at Andover Street for a report of a car on the beach around 4:45 p.m. Further investigation revealed the driver had been driving his car on the Ventnor boardwalk, and ended up crashing onto the beach in Margate.
The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation, and has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
