The Cape May County Republicans held their convention Monday at the Grand Hotel in Cape May.
Candidates had the chance to voice their concerns, as well share their action plans to help improve the garden state. Endorsements for Governor, State Committee, and State Legislature were up for grabs. Susan Adelizzi–Schmidt was nominated to run for the State Senator seat, currently held by Democrat Jeff Van Drew.
"I decided to run for the State Senate, because here in the first legislative district we need economic development. The highest unemployment rate in the state and I want to change that," said Andelizzi-Schmidt.
This is the first of three conventions for the first district, with the Cumberland and Atlantic county conventions left. Nominee to run for State Assembly Kristine Gabor says the candidates will work hard for first district residents, by saying "Well once we set through all three conventions and we are the official republican candidates for the legislative district, we will be seeking out residents of the district to find out what their needs are. "
The endorsement of candidate Susan Adelizzi–Schmidt, marks the first time a woman will be seeking a State Senator seat in the first legislative district.
