ATLANTIC COUNTY -
Atlantic County has confirmed its first case of Rabies for the year.
The county's Division of Public Health says a raccoon found on the 100 Block of Cedar Avenue in Buena Vista Township tested positive for the disease.
The raccoon was discovered after it got into an altercation with a resident's dog.
The dog was not current with its rabies vaccinations, so the owner must now decide whether to place the dog under a six– month strict confinement or have the dog euthanized.
The Atlantic County Animal Shelter offers a free Rabies Vaccination Clinic to residents each month.
The next clinic will be held in Pleasantville on Sunday, March 24th.
