STRATHMERE -- Firefighters are investigating a fire they say could have been caused by damage from Hurricane Sandy.

The fire was reported around 11:10 this morning at a single family home on Commonwealth Avenue.

Within 90 minutes the fire was knocked down by firefighters from Strathmere, Sea Isle City, Ocean City and Marmora.

Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from inside the burning house. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

While the cause of the blaze remains unknown, officials believe it could have been caused by electrical wires damaged by Sandy.
