A police officer is recovering after
she was hit by an alleged drunk driver.
Police say that officer Priscilla Murray was in her car at a
traffic post on Route 40 around 3 a.m. when her police car was struck by a vehicle driven by
46 year-old Jayesh Patel of Mays Landing. Her car was spun around several times as a result of the collision. Murray suffered from neck and back injuries and she was
treated and released from the hospital.
Police say Patel resisted arrest by kicking officers when they were putting him in the back of a patrol car. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated,
aggravated assault, assault by auto and resisting arrest.
