LOWER TWP. -
Middle school students in Cape May County are cutting it close for a good cause Thursday.
Students at the Richard M. Teitelman Middle School are shaving their heads for the Saint Baldrick's Organization.
This is the second year the Lower Cape May Regional School District has taken part in the fundraiser. Organizers say this year the school community has special inspiration.
"We're honoring two local students or children, Jay Devico of Middle Township, who is in remission, and Layton Hanson, who is the daughter of Donna Hanson, who is a fellow teacher here at Teitelman School, and we were floored when we heard news of them and we're doing anything in our power to beat pediatric cancer," said Anthony D'Aleo, a teacher at Richard M. Teitelman Middle School.
The middle school has a goal of raising $15,000 by this weekend and they're off to a good start having already raised $11,500.
