A special ceremony at Atlantic City Airport Wednesday commemorated the retirement of a special Spirit Airlines employee.
Janice Keown–Blackburn is the first female pilot ever to retire from Spirit Airlines. She's been with the airline for fourteen years, and Wednesday her services to the company were honored as she flew into ACY for the last time as a group of friends and family met her on the tarmac.
"For all the little girls: Girls can do anything. You can be anything you want to be. So go out there and don't let anybody stop you," said Keown-Blackburn, who hopes her story can inspire young women in the future.
Keown-Blackburn say she plans to remain active in her retirement.
