WINSLOW TWP. -
State Police say three horses and a pony got loose along the Atlantic City Expressway Monday evening.
Police say an off-duty officer was traveling home from his shift just after 6 p.m. when he noticed cars stopped on the shoulder of the expressway near mile marker 40 in Winslow Township. When he stopped to investigate, he found that three horses and a pony from a surrounding farm had gotten loose, and made their way onto the median in between the east and westbound lanes.
Additional troopers responded, and were able to corral the horses onto the shoulder until the owners came and loaded them onto a trailer, and took them home. No people or horses were hurt. Traffic was backed up while the horses were being corralled.
