CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE -
After decades of delays, the Garden State Parkway light removal project is beginning in Cape May County.
The construction has begun near the three traffic lights that have been the cause of serious accidents and several deaths over the years. They were originally designed as a temporary fix in the 1950's, but after years of delays and money problems, all three lights will finally come down.
The $110 million project will not only remove the lights, but will also pay for new ramps and over–passes on that section of the Parkway.
Construction is expected to last through October 2015.
