ATLANTIC CITY -
Friends and family members gathered in Atlantic City to honor
the memory and sacrifice of fallen police officer Thomas McMeekin, who tragically died in the line of
duty 8 years ago Monday.
It was on March 3rd of 2005 that McMeekin was struck by a tour bus while
directing traffic away from another motor vehicle accident. He succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Friends and family say Monday is a day to remember McMeekin as
they do every day.
"This is the anniversary date but for the members
of family of law enforcement officers it's each and everyday, the painful
memories every day," said retired Atlantic City Police Chief John Mooney.
Officer McMeekin was 28 years–old and left behind a wife and
daughter.
