(Aston, PA) – Richard Stockton (2-0) used a 12-3 scoring onslaught during the second half to win their second consecutive game, 17-9 over Neumann (0-3) on Wednesday night. Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) led the Ospreys with seven goals and two assists for the contest.
The Ospreys started slowly as the Knights took a 4-2 advantage after one period despite Connor DeCicco (Catonsville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) scoring just 1:14 into the contest to give Stockton a quick 1-0 lead. Neumann came right back with three goals before Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) scored to cut the lead to 3-2. The Knights scored at the end of one of the period to make it 4-2. The Ospreys outscored Neumann 3-2 in the second to trail by one at 6-5 after 30 minutes of play.
Stockton came out of the locker room with a vengeance in the second half as Bologno scored six of his tallies, including four in the fourth period. Stockton outshot the Knights 61-32 with 48 of those coming on goal.
In additon to Bologno's big night, DeCicco added three tallies. Freshmen Manasia and James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) chipped in with two markers each. Bologno also dished two assists to lead the team. Eugene Isola (Monroe Twp./CBA), who led the NCAA in faceoff percentage (.692) a year ago, won 16 of 21 faceoffs and grabbed a team high 11 ground balls. Freshman Kevin Eipel (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) made 16 saves in picking up the victory.
Stockton will play its third of four straight road contests to open the season when they face Centenary College at 12 noon on Saturday.
