EGG HARBOR TWP. -
Firefighters from multiple departments were called to the scene of an early morning fire.
Initial reports came in just after 4:30 a.m. Thursday, for a large fire at an abandoned building on the 2500 block of Tilton Road.
An NBC 40 reporter on the scene confirmed that heavy smoke was seen coming from the one-story building, across the street from the Woodcrest Apartment complex.
Fire officials say one person, believed to be a squatter, was inside when the fire broke out, and was questioned a short time later by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
No word on if that person has been taken into custody.
Authorities also shut down sections of Tilton Road between Uibel Avenue and Delilah Road.
Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze and determine what caused the fire.
