(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (12-12, 7-9 NJAC) overpowered Rowan University (5-20, 1-15) 77-39 on Wednesday night to complete the sweep of the season series against their arch rivals. Stockton won for the second time in the last three games and sent the Profs to their seventh straight loss to end their season.
Kelsey Brown (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) led four Ospreys in double figures with 16 points plus nine rebounds. Stockton's lone senior, Che'Na Thompson (Salem/Salem), was honored before the game on Senior Night and tallied 14 points and game highs of 12 rebounds and seven steals.
Teammates Alex Nardoza (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) and Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee) added 13 counters each. Cara Parliament (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) scored a career-high nine points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench. Ta'Yon Morgan-Jones (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) snagged 10 caroms as the Ospreys enjoyed a 59-40 rebounding edge on the night. All nine Stockton players scored points in the victory as well.
Thompson, Farrell and Brown scored four points apiece as the Ospreys broke out to a 16-2 lead. Stockton later used a 13-0 run led by Brown with six points to increase the margin to a commanding 36-6 cushion on the way to a 42-17 lead at the break. The Ospreys held Rowan to 21.6% shooting and Brown scored 12 first-half points to lead all players.
The second half was more of the same as Stockton extended their lead as high as 41 points (64-23) and cruised home to victory. Stockton held the Profs to 26.2% (17-65) shooting for the contest and forced 24 turnovers that led to 30 Osprey points.
For Rowan, Stephanie Krauss and Erin Farrell led with eight points apiece while Alexis Govan contributed seven points and a team-high nine boards.
Stockton will begin the NJAC tournament as the 6 seed and will play on the road at 3 College of New Jersey on Saturday at 4 pm.
