(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (18-6, 13-5 NJAC) finshed up the regular season with an impressive 79-64 wire-to-wire victory over Rowan University (17-8, 10-8 NJAC) on Wednesday night. It was Stockton's 10th consecutive win over the Profs and 11th out of the last 12 times meetings. The Ospreys also ended the 2012-13 regular season with a 12-1 home record.
Stockton broke out to a 16-4 lead sparked by two early three-pointers from Rich Suhr (Toms River/Toms River East). Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) scored eight points during a 10-3 run that resulted in the biggest margin of the half at 29-13 before Rowan crept back within 41-32 at the break. Stockton shot 15-25 (60%), including 6-10 from behind the arc. Suhr and Blamon both scored 11 points and combined to shoot 6-9 from three-point range.
Early in the second stanza, the Profs closed the gap even further to 43-38 with 18:31 left but Stockton slowly pulled away, using a 13-4 run that ended with another three-pointer by Suhr for a 56-42 lead with 14:16 remaining. From there, the Ospreys led by at least 10 points for the rest of the game and completed the season sweep against Rowan with the 79-64 victory. Nnamdi Usuwa (Colonia/Colonia) led the Stockton offense with 11 second-half points.
Blamon led the Ospreys with 19 points while Usuwa added 17 markers and pulled down a game-high 12 boards. Suhr chipped in with 14 counters while teammate Kevin Johnson (Paulsboro/Paulsboro) scored nine points and dished seven assists. The Ospreys out-rebounded the Profs by a 45-25 advantage. Stockton also shot 47.6% (10-21) from the three-point line for the contest.
Kendall White led all scorers with 25 points for Rowan, the only player in double figures for the Profs. Jason Rosenberg chipped in with nine points, five rebounds and five assists for the Rowan.
Stockton will be the #3 seed for the NJAC tournament and will host 6 New Jersey City on Saturday at 2 pm. Rowan is the 5 seed and will travel to #4 William Paterson on Saturday at a time to be determined.
