A special groundbreaking Wednesday in Cape May County, where a charity organization is starting the rehabilitation of a building.
The Family Promise of Cape May County organization, which hopes to provide safe shelter and meals to homeless families broke ground on the renovations to it's new building in Cape May Court House Wednesday afternoon.
The organization hopes the new building will allow them to provide more services.
"It's a grassroots effort, we do not have federal funds and the community steps in and lifts up the people that are homeless and helps them get back on their feet," said Suzanne Smigo, President of Family Promise of Cape May County.
Also Wednesday, "Scarf it Up", another Cape May County volunteer group, donated scarves and blankets that they knitted to the Family Promise Organization.
