Police say an infant was injured when two cars collided at the intersection of New and Zion Roads just before 5 Tuesday evening.
According to Police, 50 year-old Avis Jackson, of Pleasantville, was driving west on Zion Road in a white minivan, and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of New Road. That's when her car collided with a smaller, green Nissan Maxima. Both cars sustained heavy front end damage in the crash.
An infant was onboard in the Maxima, and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, along with two other occupants in the car. Jackson was taken to Shore Medical Center. The extent of the injuries is unknown, although police say they are not believed to be life threatening.
Police say traffic was detoured in the area for about 45 minutes while the accident was cleaned up. So far, no charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation.
