A local athlete took part in the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Tuesday night.
Maureen Larsen, of Sea Isle City, is representing the United States as a skier at the Special Olympics in South Korea. She was at Tuesday's opening ceremonies and torch lighting.
Earlier this year, Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio gave Larsen the key to the city, to show how proud her hometown is.
Larsen has been involved with Special Olympics for 13 years.
