Mayor Lorenzo Langford has expressed interest in bringing more television and movie projects to the gaming resort, and Wednesday, the mayor, along with Harris Haith Productions, announced plans for a project that will not only include a feature film based in Atlantic City, but also raise awareness for one of the city's biggest problems.
"The Starks Coalition" is a movie about a Wall Street executive who becomes homeless in Atlantic City, and battles back to create a program to help homeless people get off the streets.
Harris Haith, who says he began the project 20 years ago, will play the lead role in the film. He says he hopes the film will shine a light on the homelessness problem in Atlantic City, and around the country, and change the way society deals with its homeless.
Production is set to begin next month and the movie is expected to be released at the Mayor's film festival in the city this summer.
