MAYS LANDING -
Three Atlantic County residents were indicted by grand
juries this week for committing allegedly welfare fraud.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday that
42 year-old Earnest Atkins, of Pleasantville, 44 year-old Jennifer Yanni, of Egg Harbor Twp. and 35 year0old Maritza Davis-Hernandez, of Mays Landing were all
indicted for allegedly defrauding the County Department of Family and Community Development. The indictments total over $60,000 since 2007.
All three allegedly were either over paid by the department, or
failed to report their employment status.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says the state will
seek restitution for the money paid to the defendants, who face up to 5 years
in prison and $15,000 in fines.
