
(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (9-7, 4-4 NJAC) led by one at the half but dropped their second straight game as the Ospreys fell to Baruch College (15-1) 62-53 on Monday. The Ospreys have now lost four of their last five contests. Alex Nardoza (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) led Stockton with 14 points, six assists and three steals. Alexa Ryan (Hazlet/Raritan) added 12 markers while Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee) chipped in with 10 points and 10 boards.
The Ospreys held a slim 28-27 lead at the break after a close first half that included four ties and no margin greater than six points. The Ospreys shot a blistering 5-6 (83.3%) from three-point range in the half, led by Farrell and Ryan with a pair of treys apiece. Jennifer Galamb (Toms River/Toms River North) tallied all seven of her points before intermission while Farrell scored six points and pulled down nine rebounds during the first 20 minutes of play.
Baruch used a second-half surge to take the lead at 40-32 before the Ospreys rallied to close within one point at 43-44 on a three-point play by Nardoza with 7:38 to play. The Bearcats then sprinted out on an 11-2 run to take a 55-45 lead and held off the Ospreys the rest of the way. They outscored Stockton 35-25 after intermission, forcing the Ospreys into 10-34 shooting (29.4%) including just 1-6 (16.7%) from three-point range.
Jessica Duleba led all scorers with 27 points for Baruch, including 16 in the first half. Francess Henry and Iyana Abrams added 11 points apiece. Sheridan Taylor grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds while Duleba completed a double-double with 11 boards.
Stockton will take on College of New Jersey on Wednesday evening at 6 pm in the second game of their three-game home stand. Baruch will return home for a Wednesday match against Hunter College. Game time is 5:30 pm.
