LOWER TWP. -
Those who collect metal to scrap from someone else's trash in Lower Township, consider this your warning.
Township officials say more arrests will be made for anyone who steals scrap metals from the trash or recycling of a residence or business. Township code states that once metal products are placed along the street for trash collection, they become property of the township, making it illegal for a resident to sell the metal for scrap.
The public works department uses the proceeds of scrap metals for the township's general funds. If someone is taking metal from your trash, or your property, you should contact police.
