The Absecon lighthouse, New Jersey's tallest lighthouse, turns 156 years old on Tuesday.
Birthday celebration is underway with buy one get one free admission tomorrow and free admission Tuesday to go along with some birthday cake.
Atlantic City students had the chance to submit lighthouse inspired paintings and poetry, an important step to pass along the history of the lighthouse to younger generations.
"It's a vast history, we're proud of our history and we want kids to know they can get involved and learn about this and they can be proud to call Atlantic City their home," says Milton Glenn, director of educational programs.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by and climb the lighthouses 228 steps and view the Atlantic City skyline from 171 feet above the street.
