Resorts Casino and Hotel opened two new VIP Lounges as part of a sixty million dollar upgrade.
Alan Joseph was the first Resorts Casino and Hotel cardholder to be given a tour of the Paramount VIP lounge, which opened its doors for the first time on Thursday afternoon.
"This is outstanding. It's about time it has happened and I'm glad it has," said Joseph.
The Paramount and Epic VIP lounges are the first additions to open in a sixty million dollar upgrade that Resorts has in store.
The changes come at a time when almost all of the casinos are experiencing a financial downward spiral, partially due to Hurricane Sandy.
But new President and C.E.O Mark Giannantonio say's these changes are the first step to recovery.
"Each month things are going to get more stable here and we think as the new product comes online that things over time will really start to improve," said Giannantonio.
But the upgrade at Resorts are not just for cardholders.
Outside on the boardwalk two new bars are being built, one is the highly anticipated Margaritaville, and the Landshark Bar and Grill, both of which will be open all year long starting Memorial Day weekend.
Resorts officials say the purpose of the two tourist friendly bars is to attract casino goers like Marianne Tursi, who says she normally spends her money at some of the competing casinos.
But after walking the boards she says she can't wait to become a regular at Atlantic City's oldest casino.
"I will be down here as soon as it opens," said Tursi. "I'll be down here with my daughter Angela, because she is a Buffet fan and we'll get our margaritas!"
Once all of the construction at Resorts is complete, casino officials say they expect to hire hundreds of new employees.
