OCEAN CITY -

A new ordinance, requiring houses to be built higher is getting it's second reading in Ocean City Thursday evening.

Ocean City City Council is expected to vote for the second and possible the last time on the ordinance changing the zoning law to raise first floor elevations for new or reconstructed residential buildings.

The zoning flood elevation would be changed to two feet above the base flood elevation.

The ordinance had been considered by the planning board before Hurricane Sandy.
