(Glassboro, NJ) – Richard Stockton (8-3, 4-3 NJAC) dominated Rowan (4-11, 0-7) for an 86-50 victory that was its third consecutive win. Stockton senior Che'Na Thompson (Salem/Salem) highlighted the rout by scoring her 1,000th career point in the second half. The Ospreys once again won with balanced scoring that produced five players in double figures including two double-doubles.
Tiana Cannon (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) led Stockton with a career-high 19 points followed by Thompson with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Jennifer Galamb (Toms River/TR North) registered career highs of 15 points, four assists and four steals while Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee) contributed 14 points and a career-best 14 boards. Farrell shot 6-8 from the floor.
Alexa Ryan (Hazlet/Raritan) completed the quintet of double-digit scorers with 12 points. Alex Nardoza (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) dished a career-high 11 assists and also scored eight points. Nardoza was a perfect 4-4 on free throws to lead a 21-26 (80.8%) effort by the Ospreys at the stripe. Stockton also forced 27 turnovers and out-rebounded Rowan 49-38.
In her fourth season at Stockton, Thompson entered the game with 983 career points. After scoring just four markers in the first half, the senior broke out with 14 points after the break. Thompson hit the 1,000-point plateau on a jumper with 6:19 remaining that was her final basket of the night. She is the 12th player to score her 1,000th career point in a Stockton uniform.
Cannon scored two early buckets as Stockton broke out to an 8-2 lead and never looked back. The Ospreys opened up a 40-23 lead at halftime behind 13 points by Galamb plus eight points and seven rebounds from Farrell. In the second half, an 8-0 Stockton run increased the advantage to 48-26 and the margin peaked at 42 points when Thompson's milestone basket made the score 78-36. The Ospreys shot 55.3 percent from the floor in the second stanza and breezed to their third straight win, 86-50.
Stockton will host Ramapo in an NJAC game on Saturday at 1 pm.
