An elderly man was killed in a pedestrian motor vehicle
accident on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township Wednesday night.
It happened just after 5:30 near the area of Fernwood Avenue
in the Cardiff section of the township. Police say a 73 year-old man from Springfield, Pennsylvania
was driving east in a Ford F–150 when he struck Enrique Acosta, also 73, of Egg Harbor Township, as he was crossing the east bound lanes of the pike.
Acosta was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center City Campus Trauma Unit where he
was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Traffic was detoured for about 3 hours as police investigated
and cleared the scene. No charges have been filed, pending the outcome of an investigation.
