ATLANTIC CITY - Many of the hotels
and motels along the black horse pike are still dealing with debris left from Hurricane Sandy.
Amy Barbella is someone who's seen
debris from sandy sit since the storm hit.
She said she's contacted hotel
managers and officials, trying to get Black Horse Pike businesses in Atlantic City
and the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township to properly contain
and dispose of debris.
When NBC 40 arrived at the Master
Hosts Hotel in Atlantic City, there were mattresses, furniture and broken
windows scattered next to a dumpster.
When we returned later, a hotel
employee said that by Thursday all the debris would be properly disposed of and
gone from the property.
With new
FEMA regulations saying that properties in this area need to be significantly
above sea level, the question now becomes whether properties can afford to be
repaired and raised, or if they'll be taken over and redeveloped.
