PLEASANTVILLE -
A Pleasantville detective was given a special award at the city council meeting Monday night.
Detective Adam Brownlee was presented the officer of the year award for exceptional work out in the field. Detective Brownlee was presented the award by mayor Jesse Tweedle.
Detective Brownlee says he remains focused on helping the department protect the community.
"I just want the community to know that we are out there doing the best we can with the resources that we have. Our department has been diminished in numbers due to budget cuts, but we're still striving to continue our efforts on the street and curtailing the violence," said Brownlee.
Brownlee says he is honored to receive the award and that he has been encouraged by his fellow officers to take the sergeant's exam and move up in the department.
