A new recycling program in Atlantic County is turning waste into revenue.
The carton recycling program allows the Atlantic County Utilities Authority to include new materials like milk cartons, orange juice cartons and juice boxes into the current single stream recycling program.
Residents are now able to include these cartons in their regular recycling containers.
"This effort being implemented here in Atlantic County, these containers now are recycled and this will reduce the amount of trash going into landfills and this is going to be recycled and made into a new, usable product," said Richard Dovey, President of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority.
The ACUA is able to introduce this program with assistance from Re–Community and the Carton Council, a group of carton manufacturers.
