ATLANTIC CITY -- Police were forced to kill an attacking pit bull Saturday afternoon after it reportedly chased an armed man around a neighborhood.
Police responded just after 3:30 p.m. to the 500 block of North Carolina Avenue, where they'd received reports that a dog was chasing an armed young man over fences.
Arriving on scene police found the young man, who was indeed armed, and he asked if he could enter their patrol car to escape the dog.
While putting him in the car, the dog charged down police, forcing them to shoot and kill the dog.
The young man is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and was taken to Atlanticare for treatment of injuries inflicted by the dog.
