EGG HARBOR TWP. -
A local group of teens are trying to keep their peers safe this New Years Eve.
Atlantic Prevention Resources and teen members of Atlantic County Stand Up and Rebel held a sticker shock project Thursday at two Atlantic County liquor stores.
At Joe Canal's in Egg Harbor Township the teens put stickers on multi–packs of alcohol saying "keep it legal" and warning consumers that it is illegal to buy alcohol for anyone under the age of 21.
The teens have full support from the store owners.
"Just to get the word out there. We want to try to prevent
underage drinking as much as possible. We take every necessary step that we
possibly can to prevent it," said Scott Valentino, Owner of Joe Canal's Discount Liquor.
This is the first year the organizations have done a new
year's sticker shock. They have done them on super bowl weekend for the past
several years.
