EGG HARBOR TWP. -

Authorities have arrested the man responsible for shoplifting and striking a parked car at the ShopRite on English Creek in Egg Harbor Twp. Wednesday, police say.

According to police, Anthony Hagel, of Hamilton Twp., turned himself in Wednesday evening after police responded to the ShopRite store, in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Police say the store manager tried to stop Hagel, who allegedly stole a 32" television from the store.

Police say a struggle then ensued in the parking lot which was followed by Hagel striking a parked car as he fled.

Hagel was later contacted by police and turned himself in. A follow-up investigation revealed Hagel had stolen three televisions, on three separate dates, over the past week, from the English Creek ShopRite.

He has been charged with one count of robbery and two counts of shoplifting and was lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Detective Bureau at 609.926.4051 or Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-658-TIPS.
