ATLANTIC CITY -

Atlantic City Police recovered a gun stolen from Northfield Police while investigating a shots fired call early Wednesday morning.

Just after 2 a.m., an Atlantic City Police officer heard a gunshot in the area of the 100 block of North Massachusetts Avenue.  The officer saw a group of people flee into a home on the street when they noticed his vehicle.

A brief standoff ensued before residents finally obeyed police commands and exited the home.

Police recovered a loaded, semiautomatic Glock 23 gun belonging to Northfield Police during a search of the residence.  The gun was reported stolen from a burglary in Egg Harbor Township.

Later Wednesday morning, a resident on the same block called police because a bullet had entered the home through a first floor window.

Police are still investigating both incidents.  Charges for the stolen gun are pending at this time.

Anyone with more information should contact Atlantic City Police Criminal Investigations Unit at (609) 347-5766.  Information can also be called in anonymously to CrimeStoppers by dialing (609) 652-1234, or texting TIP411.  Be sure to include ACPD at the beginning of the text.
