Atlantic City Police recovered a gun stolen from Northfield Police while investigating a shots fired call early Wednesday morning.
Just after 2 a.m., an Atlantic City Police officer heard a gunshot in the area of the 100 block of North Massachusetts Avenue. The officer saw a group of people flee into a home on the street when they noticed his vehicle.
A brief standoff ensued before residents finally obeyed police commands and exited the home.
Police recovered a loaded, semiautomatic Glock 23 gun belonging to Northfield Police during a search of the residence. The gun was reported stolen from a burglary in Egg Harbor Township.
Later Wednesday morning, a resident on the same block called police because a bullet had entered the home through a first floor window.
Police are still investigating both incidents. Charges for the stolen gun are pending at this time.
