TRENTON -
The State Senate approved a bill Thursday that would allow
online gambling in New Jersey.
The bill will allow New Jerseyans to bet on Atlantic City
casino games via the Internet. The bill states any game that is authorized to be played in a
casino could be offered online, with the approval of the Division of Gaming Enforcement. Out of state bets would be allowed as long as they are
compliant with federal law.
Proponents of the bill say it will help move the state's
gaming industry into the 21st century.
The bill now goes to the Governor.
