ATLANTIC CITY -
Atlantic City's casino and restaurant employees got a little
holiday help Thursday from their union.
Unite Here Local 54 distributed $50 dollar Shoprite holiday
meal gift cards to thousands of their members. Union representatives wanted to give to members who have been
severely reduced in hours or have been laid off during the current holiday
season.
"This money came from all over the United States
from different locals in our union and we felt that it was best to distribute
it in this fashion as opposed to giving cash or a check," said Bob McDevitt, President of Unite Here-Local 54
The union hopes that business will increase in the resort
after the first of the year.
