The city of Vineland will have a new mayor.
In Tuesday's runoff election, challenger Ruben Bermudez
beat out incumbent Mayor Robert Romano. Officials with the city clerk's office say that early
numbers show Bermudez won by over 1,000 votes.
The runoff election happened because of a provision in Vineland called the Faulkner Act, which states candidates must win by at least a fifty percent plus one majority. That didn't happen back in November so there was a run off Tuesday.
Five new city council members were also elected in the election.
